Vehicle Maintenance Technician
Essential Job Functions:
Provides maintenance service to all BCRTA vehicles utilizing preventative maintenance programs, diagnostic techniques, following federal, state, and local guidelines.
Maintains and inspects all safety equipment on each vehicle.
Coordinates vehicle maintenance with Operations Manager, Vehicle & Facility Maintenance.
Maintain maintenance records.
Keeps an inventory of parts and supplies necessary to reduce vehicle downtime.
Organizes and cares for maintenance facility in accordance with all federal, state and local regulations and BCRTA policy.
Assists with the maintenance of all facilities owned and operated by BCRTA.
Is familiar with and follows established procedures for handling violent and disruptive incidents, passenger illness, and other emergencies.
Maintains training and is available to drive passengers as requested.
Reports all accidents immediately and submits a written report within twenty-four hours. Attends court proceeding when necessary.
Collaborates with maintenance staff and all other departments to maintain efficient operations and clear communication.
Seeks to improve skills and maintain professional and industry knowledge.
Complies with all BCRTA and industry safety regulations and acts as a model employee for safety compliance.
Attends training events and meetings as assigned.
Fuels vehicles in accordance with BCRTA policy.
Acts as a BCRTA ambassador, projects a positive attitude, and promotes superior customer service.
Follows all BCRTA procedures and policies.
Completes vehicle and/or facility cleaning as required.
Aides Manager, Vehicle & Facility Maintenance with special projects as directed.
Refers operational and organizational issues to supervisor or operational management when appropriate.

REQUIREMENTS:
Physical & Visual Activities:
Physically and mentally qualified to safely operate transit vehicles and perform all related essential job functions. (Subject to applicable legal requirements, must meet the physical qualification standards specified in the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.)
ENVIRONMENTAL/ATMOSPHERIC CONDITIONS:
Exposure to low and high temperature extremes according to seasonal temperatures. Limited exposure to vehicle exhaust.
JOB QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of the operation of all the vehicles in the fleet
Understand the difference between diesel and gasoline engines
Able to diagnosis and repair mechanical issues on the vehicles in the fleet
Ability to follow oral and written direction
Attention to detail, ability to memorize and retain
Working knowledge of the equipment in the facility
The ability to work alone on any project
Fluently read, write, and speak English
Ability to commutate with BCRTA management
Work calmly and clearly under stress
Perform as a team player
Experience:
Two years of diesel or automotive repair experience, preferred
Education:
High School diploma or GED, preferred.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS;
CDL Class B with Airbrake endorsement required, or ability to obtain. (CDL training available on-site)
Clean motor vehicle record
Preferred ASE certifications, or ability to obtain
Valid Ohio driver's license (with less than 4 points)
